Senator Dick Saslaw was elected Majority Leader by the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus. Saslaw previously served as Majority Leader from 2008 to 2012 and during the first few months of 2014.
Statement from Majority Leader Saslaw
It is one of the great honors of my life to serve the people of the Commonwealth as Senate Majority Leader and the people of the 35th District as their state senator.
On November 5, Virginians spoke loudly and clearly that they want to see results. And that’s what we are going to deliver – results that move Virginia forward.
We are going to move Virginia forward by ensuring public safety, protecting women’s rights and access to healthcare, investing in public K-12 education, and growing a New Virginia Economy that ensures every Virginian has the opportunity to earn a family-sustaining wage.
There’s a lot of important work to do in the coming weeks, months and years. I look forward to working with Caucus Chair Mamie Locke, the Democratic Leadership Team, and my colleagues in the Senate of Virginia.
